Drive To Rileys
April 25, 2009

Amazing what can happen when you plan a drive months in advance...how about a sunny 90 degree day in April! That's what we got for our first driving event of 2009, our annual Drive To Riley's. This year we had six MG's starting from Minute Man National Park ("The British Cars Are Coming!") from where we took a windy route through Lexington, Concord, Carlisle, Boxboro, Stow, Marlborough and Framingham, finally arriving at the weekly cruise night at Rileys Roast Beef in Nobscot, where we met up with some additional members.

Here is an image gallery from the event.

2007 BAMG British Car Show - Edaville Railroad
October 6, 2007

Summer in October--that's what was in store for the BAMG's fourth annual car show held again at Edaville Railroad in Carver. Tempuratures in the mid-80's made for ideal top down driving weather and as usual there was lots to see and do at the site since Edaville's Cranberry Festival was also going on. Here is an image gallery from the event.

Cookout/Drive/Poker Run
August 19, 2007

Instead of our regular August meeting, Kurt and Linda Steele again hosted a cookout at their home in Framingham. We lined the busy road in front of the house with MG's, drawing a lot of stares from passing drivers! After lunch we went on a 56 mile drive, stopping for ice cream in Grafton before returning. Part of the ride also involved a poker run with cards collected along the way and several questions for each driver to answer based on things seen along the road. A photo gallery of the day can be found here.

A large group of club members met a Kimball's weekly Thursday night cruise night.

Dyno Day
August 4, 2007

Dyno Day 2007 was another great success. What is it? A dyno is a rolling road you put your car on. A computer attached to the dyno will calculate the horsepower and torque of your car, as well as tailpipe air/fuel ratio to aid you or your mechanic in tuning your motor to its full potential. This is not only for high performance cars, but daily drivers as well.

Tea For Two
July 14, 2007

Several club members took part in an after tea at an English style garden in Manchester-by-th-Sea, held as a benefit for the British Charitable Society. A row of MG's ended up parked in from of the estate while their owners were enjoying the event.

Drive To Rileys

2006 BAMG British Car Show - Edaville Railroad
October 7, 2006

Saturday, October 7, 2006 was the date for our third annual car show down in Carver, MA at the Edaville Railroad. It was sunny, but a cold wind kept everyone bundled up. Everyone enjoyed the cars, train rides, craft vendors and food. We have two photo galleries of the event, one by Nels Anderson and one by Diane Balinski.

Meeting/Cookout/Drive
August 13, 2006

Instead of our regular August meeting, Kurt and Linda Steele hosted a cookout at their home in Framingham. We lined the busy road in front of the house with MG's, drawing a lot of stares from passing drivers! After eating we went on a drive for ice cream which also involved a quiz/competition to spot things along the route. A photo gallery of the day can be found here.

Drive To Rileys
May 20, 2006

The rain finally stopped, so a small group of BAMG members explored the back roads west of Boston, starting at the Minute Man National Park visitors center in Lexington then travelling through Bedford, Lincoln, Wayland, Sudbury and Marlboro before arriving at the Saturday night cruise at Rileys Roast Beef in the Nobscot section of Framingham. Several additional members met us at Rileys.

Winter Doldrums Party

2005 BAMG British Car Show - Edaville Railroad
October 1, 2005

Saturday, October 1, 2005 turned out to be a great day for our second annual car show down in Carver, MA at the Edaville Railroad. Everyone enjoyed the cars, train rides, craft vendors and food. We had a professional photographer to take everyone's photo and their prices were quite reasonable. Check out your car photos on their website www.BasketballPhoto.com and type in Edaville Railroad in the events box near the top of the page. We also have our own photo gallery of the event here.

Drive To Rileys
July 23, 2005

With perfect weather, a small group of BAMG membership explored the back roads west of Boston, starting at the common in Weston and travelling through Wayland, Natick and Weston before arriving at the Saturday night cruise at Rileys Roast Beef in the Nobscot section of Framingham.

British Car Day MOT
June 26, 2005

At least it didn't rain, as we've had way too much of that this spring. But the day did turn out brutally hot and any spot in the shade was much desired. We had a good turnout of members and cars.

Dyno Day at New England Dyno in Worcester
June 4, 2005

BAMG sponsored Dyno Day on June 4th at New England Dyno in Worcester. Participants had their cars run on the dyno to check performance, while others just come by for the mini car show and cookout. We even signed up three new members (welcome!). Organizer Paul Seeberg has provided a photo gallery here.

MG/Rover Day At The Museum Of Transportation
October 23, 2004

After being rained out in August, MG/Rover Day got rescheduled for late October. The day was gray and cloudy but the cold didn't seem to affect the attendance any with plenty of people arriving top down even. Two club members contributed photo galleries:

Nels Anderson
Paul Seeberg

2004 BAMG British Car Show - Edaville Railroad
October 2, 2004

Saturday turned out to be a great day for a car show down in Carver, MA at the Edaville Railroad. Everyone enjoyed the cars, train rides, craft vendors and helicopter rides. We had a professional photographer to take everyone's photo and their prices were quite reasonable. Check out your car photos on their website www.BasketballPhoto.com and type in Edaville Railroad in the events box near the top of the page. Nels also did a great job capturing the days events and has them posted at Edaville photos

Collings Foundation

10 BAMG members met up with the Baystate MGA club at the Lexington Common and then proceeded on a great back road drive to the Collings Foundation in Stow, MA. This collection of cars and planes was absolutely amazing and highly recommended if anyone ever has the opportunity to visit. We had a personal tour by the owner of the collection. Once again the day was perfect with everyone enjoying a picnic lunch on the field on the Foundation grounds.

Owls Head Transportation Museum 2003
Owls Head, ME

The New England MG Car Club hosted a Fall Foliage Tour which was a great drive along some perfect back roads of Maine. Everyone on the tour had family two way radios which allowed for some great interplay along the way. An informal reception which offered wine, cheese and phenomenal fruit along with some great conversation was followed by several from the group gathering for dinner at a local hot spot. The show itself was at the Owls Head Transportation Museum. The museum itself is worth the drive, but for the show they also had several of the vintage planes out and flying. The photo above on the right was one photo we couldn't pass up... The sign reads Hussey's General Store - Guns, Wedding Gown, Cold Beer.

British Invasion
Stowe, VT 2003

Many BAMG members braved the hurricane and made the journey to Stowe, VT for the 2003 British Invasion. Of course a celebratory dinner shown above had to be held to mark the occasion. At least six club cars and several more members made it to Stowe this year and were thankful the rain ended (for the most part) for the show. Those in attendance were Michael Crawford, Michael, Michelle and Kyle Nadeau, Barbara Day, Eric and Ronellen Gagnon, Denise Thorpe, Doug and Janice LeBlanc, Steve McKay and family (who walked away with several awards), and Gene Ware.

Prince Edward Island 2003
Canada

The show this year was another great success with about 180 cars. They definitely know how to make you feel welcome. They start off with a great informal reception party, have a wash and shine the morning of the show to remove that great PEI dust, the show, the awards dinner, and the drive across PEI escorted by local police officers who blocked every intersection to allow the 50+ car caravan to proceed uninterrupted. The drive there may be a little long but they make it worth the trip.

Strawberry Bank 2003
Portsmouth, NH

The British Cars of New England - Show of Dreams was held at Strawberry Bank which is located in downtown Historic Portsmouth which was a wonderful location for a show. Many of our members met up at the rest area on Rt. 95 and headed to this show together led by Michael Burgess (not shown above). Paul Seeberg received a third place award and Barbara Day received a diamond in the rough award.

Coastal Drive 2003

This year our drive couldn't have planned on a more perfect day. Sunday May 18th was warm and sunny for the 12+ cars that attended our first event of the year. Everyone seemed eager to get the cars out of moth balls and back on the road. The drive along the coast was as beautiful as ever and it was extra fun getting all the admiring looks as we drove down Hampton Beach. Sam at Brits Bits opened special for us thanks to the special assistance provided by his daughter (shown below with Kyle Nadeau - is this the beginning of a great relationship?)

BAMG Holiday 2002

The first Annual Boston Area MG Club Holiday was a great success. Dozens of gifts were donated by club members to benefit the Salem Harbor House Children. Almost 30 club members and guests were in attendance and enjoyed great food, great conversation, really had to put their British thinking caps on for Doug's quiz.

British Invasion 2002
Stowe, VT
September 21, 2002

The forecast rain held off and another great show was held in Stowe. Every year the number of amazing cars just seems to be increasing and this year was no exception. Six club cars made it to the show (Joe and Janice did not register) and Steve came as a spectator in a Miata.

Castle Hill
Ipswich, MA
September 22, 2002

There were close to 1000 classic cars in addition to the invitation only Concours D'elegance cars at the top of the hill at Castle Hill. The cars ranged from Model A's to Porsche 356's to a dozen Aston Martins... definitely something for everyone. A Porsche club had over 25 cars in attendance. We had 2.

Portland Head Light Car Show 2002

There is nothing finer than having a car show next to the ocean. BAMG members made it to the show along with some other fine cars who enjoyed the beautiful day at the Portland Head Light in Maine.

Marshview Farm Car Show 2002

The first Marshview Farm Car Show was a success. Many of our club members (and several new members) along with representatives from several other marques including Triumph, Rover, and Austin Healey all braved the 100 degree heat.

PEI 2002

This year was another fantastic show at Prince Edward Island, Canada. Three cars from the club made the trip this year - Kim and Winnie Myers in their 1958 MG Magnette, Barbara Day in her 1953 MG TD, and Eric and Ronellen Gagnon in their 1970 MGB GT.

Merrimac Valley Rally 2002

The first annual BAMG Merrimac Valley Rally was held on June 23, 2002. Although the weather looked threatening, the showers held off until the rally was over. Dave Kalloch and Doug Snook took first place with a perfect score. Our new member John McDonald braved weather and the drive from Cambridge and took second place. Mike Nadeau took third without a navigator! Could this be due to his local knowledge of the area? Denise Thorpe actually tied for third, but the tie breaker was the actual mileage and Denise lost out due to a non-working odometer. Steve Devine managed to find a few new streets that even the rally masters didn't even know about.

British Cars by the Sea 2002
Waterford, CT

Mike Nadeau, Eric and Ronellen Gagnon, and Steve Devine (and Cookie) made the trip to the Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford, CT. This was a show held in a wonderful park with ocean views and just happened to take place on a perfect day. There a couple hundred British cars, trucks, and motorcycles at the show. There were so many chrome bumper MGB's that they had to be divided into two groups. The BMW Mini's were no match for the Austin Mini's - in looks and awards.

Coastal Drive 2002
"The Braving the Elements Tour"

Our first official drive of the year took place on May 18th...yes one might think mid-May would mean a nice spring day for a drive. Mother Nature decided one more day of snow was called for. We saw it all that day, rain, hail, and snow. A few brave souls (two MG's, a Porsche, two Toyotas and a Chevy) headed out that day for a three hour tour. The weather started getting rough, the tiny cars were tossed, if not for the courage of the fearless group the spirit would be lost...(Sorry got carried away)

McLean's Brits Bits was the first stop on our tour which afforded us a chance to warm up and then we all headed off to The Cape Neddick Light House. If we thought we were crazy going out in weather like that, we were not alone, there was actually a wedding that was taking place at the light house while we were there. We ended our grand voyage with some fantastic burgers on Rt. 1 in York, ME.
