T
he Boston Area MG Club was started by a small group of MG car enthusiasts and has grown to a current membership of over 60. The club sponsors many activities, including monthly meetings, drives, technical sessions and parties. We are a very social group and encourage participation.General membership meetings are held on the second Friday of the month. The meetings start at 7:00. Locations vary, but details will usually be posted here, and members can sign-up for email notices via our Yahoo Group.
For 2011 we had not one but eight car shows planned for downtown Boston, right between Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market. What a place to show off your car! Because of the very small space available the number of cars is limited and all must be pre-registered and fully commit to attending the show. The official show flyer can be downloaded here. More information on the show can be found on this 2011 info sheet (download). Do people enjoy these shows? Check out this article about the second one in 2009.
Our annual car show for five years was in October at the Edaville Railroad in Carver, Massachusetts. The site offers a cranberry festival, rides for kids and craftspeople. Our last show was held October 11, 2008. You can now see an image gallery from the 2008 event Here. This show will not be held in 2011.
Membership dues are $25.00 per year (includes a subscription to the British Marque). You do not have to own an MG to be a member. Come to a meeting to join, or use the "Join" link at the right.

Quabbin Reservoir Ride 2011: A small group of BAMG members did an impromptu ride around the Quabbin Reservoir on October 16, 2011. It was a beautiful fall day with lots of wind and kind of meager foliage but a great ride. Photos can be found here.
Columbus Day Parade 2011: Many members of BAMG and other classic car owners participated in the annual Columbus Day Parade, held October 9, 2011 through the streets of Boston. Here are some photos.
North Shore Ride 2011: Paul Zink and Al Viator set up a ride starting in Gloucester and ending in Newburyport for October 2. Weather was cloudy and damp, but we had a good turnout anyway. Photos can be seen here.
Annual BBQ And Poker Run, September 11, 2011: Once again this year Kurt and Linda Steele hosted a BBQ and poker run at their home in Framingham. After a great lunch we headed out on a trip for ice cream that took us through the Blackstone valley into northern Rhode Island. The weather was perfect and so was the food and driving. A photo gallery can be found here.
Faneuil Hall, August 20, 2011: Our August 20 British car event at Faneuil Hall / Quincy Market was blessed with great summer weather. As usual, we entertained the vast crowds with our little British cars. Check out the photo gallery here. This show was also featured on Boston.com.
Faneuil Hall, July 23, 2011: Once again BAMG returned to Faneuil Hall in Boston for a British car show on the cobblestones between Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. The forecast was for brutally hot weather. Instead, we started the day with thunder and lighting and heavy rain, but shortly that turned into sunshine and it was actually a pretty pleasant day. Check out the photo gallery here.
British Car Day At Larz Anderson Museum, June 26, 2011: Many BAMG members were on hand for the large show held annually at the Larz Anderson Museum in Brookline. The weather cooperated, making for a great day. A photo gallery showing some of the cars can be found here.
Tanglewood Car Show, June 17-19, 2011: Not a BAMG event but a number of club members traveled to Tanglewood in western Massachusetts for this weekend event. Diane Balinski provided a photo gallery that can be seen here.
Faneuil Hall, June 19, 2011: Once again BAMG returned to Faneuil Hall in Boston for a British car show on the cobblestones between Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. We had a perfect day of weather and large crowds to look over our cars. Check out the photo gallery here.
Collings Foundation Tour: On June 5, 2011 BAMG joined several other groups for a private tour of the Collings Foundation in Stow to see their aircraft and car collection. Derek Byrne provided a photo gallery of the event here.

Wayne also brought along his 1934 MG PA Airline Coupe. View the photo gallery here. Regalia Shop Opens: The Boston Area MG Club store at Kiosk Virtual Stores has opened. Feel free to shop! You can find shirts, hats, even scrubs, sweatshirts, etc. all embroidered on demand! These are not silk screened, they are embroidered! Real nice quality. Visit the store here.
Name Badges: Kurt Steele has arranged for us to all get club name badges, which will help identify us at events and help new members to get to know everyone. An order form in Word .doc format can be downloaded here.
